Inoue Manji

This small dish is made by the Japanese potter name "Manji Inoue"; he is one of the living national treasure of Japan.  He is a specialist of white porcelain and celadon.  I have a chance to visit his studio when I went to Arita porcelain festival this year.

Luckily, I was able to meet and talk to the artist that day, and I was astonished to know how brilliant he was.  He was also extremely nice person.  It was hard to believe that he is 83 years old.

His main work are the pots rather than the plates.  However they are quite expensive, the price starts from few thousand dollars.  I was able to purchase just two plates this time.  Then he invited me and my mother to lunch at his place.

I've appreciated a lot of his art by observing many of his works, but also learned many things beyond the art that day.
