I come across with rare sashimi sometimes that was "white pomfret" the fish I've found it was the best in Singapore.  It's rare to find this fish in Japan especially for the sashimi quality.  It was very special to taste this fish partially grilled... absolutely amazing.

「夏の刺身」珍しいものに出会ったのがマナガツオのたたき。マナガツオとはシンガポールの最高級魚とも言われている南洋の魚で、九州でも夏にたまに見るくらいで稀な高級魚。

その刺身とは相当美味しいと聞いていたが、たたきで出ていたのを頂いてみた。感想は今まで食べたことがない魚で美味しい。青身ではないが白身でもない風味で不思議な魚。

Some fish are very significant in the summer seasons like Sazae and Chinu snapper.  I've found it very good to grill with melted butter with soya sauce on the top.

「夏の魚料理」最近のヒットはチヌをバター醤油で焼いたもの。焦げやすいので注意しながら皮目がカリッとするまで焼く。イワシを梅肉で巻いたものをオリーブオイルで焼いたものはピンチョス風に仕上げた。

Takamori in July

What a stunning view of Mount Aso.  This is a view of the mountain from Takamori where is the west side of the mountain.  It was a mixed day but the air was very crisp and I was able to take an absolutely beautiful summer green of the mountain.  I didn't know that cedars are beautiful trees.  Photos are determined by what kind of light you have on that day.

「７月の高森」この日は晴れとも言えない混合空だったが、空気がとても澄んでいてとても美しい山の写真が撮れた。こんなに夏の緑が綺麗だと思わなかった。特に杉の美しさに初めて気が付いた。いつもくすんだ色の木々だと思っていたが、全ては光による。草の黄緑色と杉の緑が素晴らしいコントラストだった。

この日は珍しくそば道場に行ってみた。阿蘇ボーイに移転して初めて訪れた。以前は１０割そばがまぁまぁかと思っていたが、普通になっていた。せっかく移転して綺麗になったのに大して何も改善されていないのが残念。おすすめしない。

Tawarayama in July

 

What a beautiful day to be out in Aso.  The day when I was out driving to the mountain, it was an absolutely beautiful day of July with a blue sky with the green mountain.

「７月の俵山」７月２１日の風景。この日は阿蘇へドライブに出かけたのだが、天気がとてもよかった。空が青く、阿蘇の夏の緑が際立っていた。とにかく緑！の力が強い。

「萌の里」ここはよく立ち寄る道の駅。久木野の阿蘇ボーイより物の質が断然いいので、よく買い物をする。大好きな桔梗の植木があったのでとても嬉しくなった。

I cooked an entire French dinner for my mother's birthday and a party for my brother's family gathering.  Our family has also a newborn baby and the situation of covid, we are not able to eat out for the occasion.  Though I was very busy during that week I was not able to prepare dishes well enough.  Yet I was very happy to be able to serve dishes for my family.

「母の誕生日」コロナの状況や最近生まれた新生児がいるので外食が出来ず、私が料理した母のお誕生日会と弟家族のお祝い。この週は忙しくて料理のメニューをしっかり考えたりすることが出来なかった中で作ったので、慌ただしく仕上げた。もう少しクリエイティブな料理がしたかったが、何はともあれ家族のお祝いが出来てよかった。フレンチの定番料理だが、パンとワインに相性バッチリで美味しい。

Sakuramachi Garden

 

Sakuramachi is a new and long waited complex that finally finished this year in Kumamoto.  It is located in the centre of the city and the building is very unique and lovely.  I love this complex because it has gardens on the second and third floors of the building.  You can sit and eat there.  It would be nice if there are cafe bars to serve drinks..

「桜町ガーデン」桜町の２階と３階にあるガーデンは街が見下ろせる設計になっていてなかなかいい。ここで買ったものを食べていいそうだ。カフェ・バーが併設されていればもっとオシャレに夕方１杯飲んでバスで帰るとか、そんな都会的な事が出来るのに、そこまで至らないのが熊本っぽい。

Cumulonimbus clouds

 What a hot day we're having these days.  Our rainy season is over that we're expecting hot summer.  Cumulonimbus cloud's appearance is symbolic hot summer of the region to me.

「入道雲」梅雨の終わりで暑い日が始まった。絵に描いた様な入道雲を見るとアニメの風景みたいだと思う。これから猛暑の季節。日本の夏は暑い。

The end of Rainy season

Our rainy season; Tsuyu usually ends in mid-July.  Towards the end of this season, we often have very heavy rain which causes flooding in the region.  We didn't have major ones this year but sometimes it rains very heavily.  During the rain, we can not take walk so whenever it stops rain, I go out.

「梅雨の終わり」梅雨の終わりには雨が酷くなることが多く、洪水になり易いのだが今年はなんとか大丈夫だったようだ。近年、雨が降る時には非常に激しくなるので油断ができない。今年の梅雨は早めに終わったようだ。

Summer vegetables

 

We're having plenty of summer vegetables from a grandmother who grows such wonderful vegetables.  They taste different from the one who is sold at stores.

「夏野菜」今年の夏はご自分で作られる方から沢山の野菜を頂いている。それは売られている野菜と少し違っていて本当に美味しい。
