Setsubun

 

February 3rd is the day we fight against demons.  I don't know if Oni is translated to demons but something bad inside of you to through away from the house.

「節分」この日辺りには炒り大豆を買う。これが結構美味しくてポリポリ食べている。恵方巻きは頂いた。

The first day of work

 

We usually have the first three days of January off plus the 30th of December.  In general Japanese people have five days off at the end of the year which is equivalent to the Christmas holidays in the western calendar.  I appreciated it very much my holiday and I felt good going to work in January.

「仕事始め」年末から一連の流れ。大掃除、仕事納め、大晦日、新年、初詣、仕事始め、とあっという間の１週間弱の日々だが、人々が同様ににそう行動するのが日本的であり、国全体がその雰囲気になる。そういう統一感がある意味文化的に貴重な経験だと感じる。

西洋歴で新年をお祝いするのは日本だけだが、現代人は西暦を使っているのだから旧暦でお祝いするより、私はこちらの方がスッキリするので好きだ。日本の新年はなぜか本当に心が新たまり、気持ちが良い。

Yamaga

 

We came to Yamaga for some business but it's a nice place to come because they have a great Onsen.  For the first time, we stop by this local Udon shop which was absolutely great quality.  I wish there is a shop like this in Kumamoto as well.

「山鹿・入屋うどん」年末、山鹿に用事があったのでみんなで行く事になった。山鹿は街ブラも楽しいし、温泉もあるので行って損はない。

お昼は高木そばに行こうと思っていたが、多くて入れず。その先の交差点にあるうどん屋に入ってみたら、そこが大正解だった。好みの博多うどんっぽいツルッとした感じで、肉ごぼうが最高に美味しかった。出汁も良いし、かやくご飯もとても美味しい。次回から山鹿に行く時のお昼はここで決まりとなった。うどんにしては出てくるのに少し時間がかかる。駐車場は裏の風呂屋の広い所に停めてよいそうだ。

帰りに千代の園で「泰斗」を買って帰るのもオススメ。泰斗は純米が美味しい。

Winter colours of Aso

 

I love colours of Aso of all seasons but I've found that winter colours are especially pretty.  The tones of yellow ocher and beige are special.

「冬の阿蘇」阿蘇は全ての季節で美しいが、冬の色もとても良い。ベージュのトーンの冬の芝の色がなんとも言えない。寒いのだが温かみのある冬景色だ。

Long evening walk in December

 

I love taking a long walk around the lake "Ezuko".  Winter is so beautiful in Kumamoto because it's super sunny and the air is crisp and clear.

「下江津」日本の冬はとにかく気持ちが良い日が多い。逆にヨーロッパや北米の冬はとにかくジメジメしていて天気が悪い。日本の夏はジメジメしていてまさに逆。日本の澄んで冷たい空気の中で、気持ちよく散歩できる日は最高だと実感する。

Shimo Ezu in December

The winter in Japan is amazing.  It's dry and super sunny.  I love winter the most and it's the most beautiful season to me.  Yes it's cold but it's extremely clear and the sky is blue.

「日本の冬」日本の冬は最高だ。乾燥していて空が青く、どこまでも澄み切っている。本当に清々しくて美しい。熊本の１２月はそんな日が毎日のように続く。年内はそれほど寒くもなく、最高気温が１２、３度の時もある。

 

Beautiful sites of November in Kumamoto

 Trees turn colours in late November in Kumamoto.  It's the best season of Japan.  The air is cold and crisp and everything is colourful.

「１１月の景色」紅葉の頃の写真も沢山撮った。１１月は本当にいい季節。暖かい日もあるが、だんだん寒くなって空気が澄んだ感じ。紅葉で街も明るく色づく。もみじの紅葉もいいが、楓の色のつき方がとても好き。

A guitar man by the lake

One of the evenings in mid-October, there was a guy practising the guitar by the lake.  It was also good music to hear. 

「ギターを弾く人」１０月の半ば江津湖でギターを練習している人がいて、なんだかとても雰囲気が良かった。音楽もしっとりしていた。

仕事を始めたことで、シャッターチャンスの良い時間に散歩に出かけられる機会が極端に減った。その中でも日中の空気を感じていると分かる。そうして出かけた夕方の江津湖で、美しい瞬間に出会う事は掛けがいの無い私の楽しみ。

Colours of October in Shimo Ezu

 

What a wonderful day and the colours of autumn in Ezuko in October.  I was very lucky to visit the lake that day.  It was a wonderful walk.

「１０月の色・下江津湖」この日は素晴らしい天気と空気で素敵な秋の花壇の写真が撮れた。こんな日にカメラを持って散歩して良かった。写真はもちろんだが肉眼で素晴らしい景色を見れた事が最高の思い出。
