Chiran Green Tea

 

Chiran is a small town of Kagoshima where is very known for the land of Tokkotai air plains took off.  It's the name of the very sad history of Japan but their green tea is absolutely delicious now.

「知覧茶」知覧のお茶はとても美味しいことで有名だが、最近新茶を頂いたら本当に美味しかった。爽やかながら少し渋みがあるバランスの取れた素晴らしいお茶だ。色も綺麗。

I love tea, any kind of tea but especially Japanese green tea.  Though I love tea I forgot to drink them because I tend to have coffee so I'm having them in the afternoon more often these days.

「お茶」お茶はどんなお茶でも大好きなのでよく買うのだが、飲むのを忘れてしまって結構大量にある状態になってしまった。我が家は夫がコーヒーしか飲まないので、お茶を飲むのは私だけ。最近になって午後はお茶を楽しむようにしている。

Japanese sweets

I love Japanese sweets for tea time.  They are much sweeter than other Asian sweets but less sweeter than Western sweets.  Mostly made by sweet bean paste.  Good ones only last one or two days so I don't bring them much these days but they're delicious.

「和菓子」母に持って来て頂いた和菓子。私はお菓子を普段あまり食べないが、久しぶりに頂くととても美味しい。和菓子は中華圏のお菓子よりもしっかりと甘い。春は華やかなお菓子があって特に好き。きちんとお茶を入れるべきだった。。金沢の最中と吉兆庵の桜しぐれ。

Tea time - ondeh ondeh

Ondeh Ondeh is my favorite dessert in Singapore.  I think this is originally Malay or Indonesian dessert.  This is pandan seasoned rice cake with palm sugar inside and coated with coconuts grades.  I also love local "curry puff".  This is a mix of Chinese puff stuffed with curry seasoned potatoes but it's one of the signature food of Singapore.

「地元のお茶菓子」オンデ・オンデは私がシンガポールで一番好きなお菓子。パンダンを入て練った餅をパームシュガーでくるみココナッツをまぶしたもの。噛むと中から溶けたパームシュガーがジュワッと広がってとても美味しい。お餅なのでその日の朝に作ったものを買いに行って、その日のうちに食べないと美味しくない。

もう一つは近所のカレーパフ専門店のもの。カレーパフとはカレー味のポテトやお肉を中華の点心のパフで包んで揚げたもの。中華とマレー料理の融合したものでこれもとても美味しい。

Edamame Mochi

My mother came to visit me here in Singapore and she brought many things from Japan.  Edamame Mochi from Echigo; Nigata was very tasty.

「えだまめ餅」母が遊びに来た。お土産を色々持って来てくれたうちの新潟の「えだまめ餅」を初めて頂いてみた。甘塩っぱい？感じでとても美味しかった。お茶は暑いので、前の晩から水出しした緑茶。
