California rolls
This is California rolls with salmon inside. This size of large roll is called "Futomaki" in Japanese. We don't use any of these ingredients except cucumber for Maki in traditional sushi in Japan. We use boiled spinach, pan rolled eggs, Japanese pickles and cooked fish powder for traditional Maki. People make Futomaki at home for some occasions of celebration. Yet this type of new sushi is very popular in Hong Kong as well.
「カリフォルニア風太巻き」夫は海苔が好きなので、カリフォルニアロールにサーモンの刺身を入れての太巻きを作った。ご飯の質、炊き方が寿司向きでなく、かなりの失敗だった。たまたまこの時期に買ったご飯がよい米の新米で水を減したつもりでもかなり柔らかくなってしまった。よく寿司には古米を使うというが、本当にその通りだと思う。酢の染込み具合も悪くて、大変だった。
