Connaught Village

I've found this little corner of London near Hyde Park on a local guide book that introduces small villages.  I went in the morning before lunchtime so most of the shops were closed.  Though some shops looked pretty this corner was too small to call it as a village.

The cafe I went into by chance was very good.  Then I took a walk in Hyde Park but the park is too big that I had to turn back one point.

「コナウト・ヴィレッジ」ハイドパーク近くにあるおしゃれな一角。ローカルガイドで見つけたので行ってみた。お昼前に行ったので、店はまだ閉まっていた。お店はおしゃれだが、ほんの一角。わざわざ行く事もなかった。アラブ人街と隣り合わせなので、アラブ系のティーショップやおしゃれなケパブの店などもあった。

見た目が良さげなカフェで軽くランチしたが結構美味しかった。その後はハイドパークを散歩していたが、広すぎて途中で折り返して帰ってきた。

Lunch at Portrait Restaurant

My friends and I had lunch at Portrait restaurant in National Portrait Gallery.  My friend introduced me to this place and as she told me the view from the restaurant was nice.  I also like the food, simple yet very well cooked.  Then we had a walk around St. James Park.  There are many beautiful parks in central London.  I love to take a long walk even the weather is not exactly up for it.

「ポートレイト・レストラン」お友達がランチに予約してくれたレストランはお料理も雰囲気もとてもよかった。チャーリングクロスにあるナショナル・ポートレイト・ギャラリーの最上階にある。食後はセントジェームス公園で散歩した。ロンドンは街中でも美しい公園がたくさんあって散歩が楽しい。

Cornish delicacies

There is two famous Cornish food, one is Cornish pie and the other is Cream tea.  I like both of them very much.  The pie we bought at the bakery at Tintagel was better than the other shop.  It had a thinner crust and the filling was simple yet delicious.  Traditional pie filling is potato and beefsteak.

I also liked Cream tea.  I think this is much more about the local clotted cream that makes this special.  Clotted cream is a special dairy product that I didn't know before.  It's rich cream almost a butter and it goes super well with plain scorns.

コンウォールの名物はコーニッシュパイとクリームティー。クリームティーとはスコーンにクロテッドクリームとジャムを合わせて紅茶と頂くもの。クロテッドクリームとは乳脂肪率が６０％ほどで、バターとクリームの中間のものだ。リッチだが素朴なプレインスコーンとの相性が抜群でとても美味しかった。

コーニッシュパイは伝統的な中身はじゃがいもと牛肉ステーキ。ティンタジェルで買ったパイは皮も薄くて中の味付けもよく、ステーキがたっぷりでとても美味しかった。

Tintagel Castle 2

We took about two hours to walk and see around the site but the hiking trail looked like to last all around the north coast.  It would be so nice to take a long walk but it's difficult to make a long trail of hiking when you come with your car... otherwise, you have to make a return in one point.  Yet just around the castle was long enough and we had an amazing walk.

「ハイキングトレイル」北コンウォールに面して美しいハイキングトレイルがあり、どこまでも歩いて行けそうだった。遠くまで行きたいのだが、車で来ているとどこかで折り返して車まで戻らなければいけない。しかし城跡あたりだけでも十分に時間をかけて歩ける距離があった。絶景に圧倒されながら歩くのは素晴らしい経験だった。

Tintagel Castle 1

Tintagel Castle is one of the most impressive and breathtaking sites I've seen in my life.  I was not very familiar with King Arthur tail but my nephew taught me the story.

The castle itself is only a small remnant of once was a structure now however overall site is vast and amazing.  Stairs are steep on the cliff and the view you can see from many levels are different.  We were so lucky to have great weather on that day.

「ティンタジェル城」アーサー王の伝説に由来する城の遺跡。この旅で最も素晴らしく、人生の中でも有数の絶景に出会えた。コンウォールで絶対訪れるべき所の一つだが、思った以上に良かった。

城の跡とは少ししかないが、北コンウォールの海に面する一つの岩山が広大で美しい。じっくりとハイキングしながら断崖と海の景色を眺められるようにできていて、歩くのも楽しかったし、全てがとても美しく素晴らしい景色に感動した。
