Jinbocho

I went to take a long walk in Jinbocho for the first time and it was the most fun experience in Tokyo for me.  Jinbocho is famous for millions of book stores, second-hand books.  Because I really love reading Japanese books, it was a dream town for me.  There are also many Soba noodle shops, curry shops and cafes.

「神保町」今回初めて神保町をウロウロしてみた。古書店で有名な街だが、私には楽しすぎる街だった。三省堂の本店や東京堂書店の他、山のように古書店がある。古書にはあまり馴染みがなかったが、見ていると面白そうな本が沢山あるのだ。

蕎麦屋、カレー屋、喫茶店も沢山あり、無限に時間が過ごせる街だ。しかもランチ価格帯がとても安い。あまりアクセスのよくない街だが、本好きにはおすすめ。

This is a very causal Izakaya in Tamachi.  It's a old style of Izakaya but the food is fantastic and very reasonable.

「湯浅」慶應通りにある居酒屋。大衆的で狭いが、何でも美味しくて安い。刺身も美味しいし、メバルの煮付けもふわっとしていてとても美味しかった。

Tokyu Plaza in Ginza is a new shopping complex opened recently.  There are many interesting shops inside but I liked the most about it that there are mostly small Japanese shops, not the global labels you can find everywhere.

「東急プラザ・銀座」ソニービルの向かいに去年出来た新しいビル。とても良かった。日本文化をコンセプトに作られたそうで、日本独自のおしゃれなショップが沢山入っている。それほど高級路線でもなく、若者向けでもない。縦に高いスペースもとてもセンスが良く心地いい。最近銀座は観光客が多すぎてあまり来なかったが、有楽町からこの辺は益々好きになりそうなエリアだ。

Esshu - Nihonbashi

This is one of my favourite Izakaya in Tokyo.  Their sashimi and sake; Kubota is the best of the world.  I come here after shopping in Takashimaya.  We go there for early dinner and so that we can also enjoy shopping in Tokyo station after dinner.

「越州・日本橋」久保田が経営する居酒屋。高島屋で買い物をした後に行く定番になった。刺身の盛り合わせが最高に美味しい。どんな高級な店より全てが鮮度が良く美味しい。久保田も大好きなので、これだけで満足。酒の肴料理ばかりなので色んなものがあるわけではないが、日本酒を楽しむのには最高だ。

I always visit Nihonbashi each time I come to Tokyo.  It's my favourite town.  There are many old shops in the stretch of the main road from Mitsukoshi to Takashimaya but there are also many small shops in small streets behind.  It was a very cold day so I couldn't walk much this time.

「日本橋」日本橋は東京で一番好きな街かもしれない。古い店もあるし、室町COREDOなど買い物しやすい新しい店もたくさんある。新しいオフィスビルも出来ていて、お茶するのに便利だ。

T.Y. Harbor

This is a brewery in Tennozu that we come sometimes for their beer and their bakery.  The atmosphere is very nice but the foods are typical American food.  It's not impressive but just ok for the casual eat out.

「T.Y.ハーバー」天王洲にあるオシャレなブリュワリー（ビール醸造所）。ベーカリーもあってパンも美味しい。雰囲気は抜群だが、食べ物はそこそこ。典型的なアメリカンフードで、ソーセージ、シーザーサラダ、バーガーなどは一応大丈夫。

Shibuya

I used to live in Shibuya but I haven't been there for recent years.  The city itself as Shibuya is bit too young for me but there are few interesting sites in the back of Shibuya.  Ongoing construction of the station looked nothing near from completing anytime soon.

「渋谷」以前住んでいたので、懐かしくなって久しぶりに歩いてみた。便利で面白いく好きな街だが、駅周辺の店などは自分には若い。ヒカリエのデパ地下は、最先端の店がたくさんあって楽しい。しかし長年続いている渋谷駅の工事も全く終わりそうにない。

China town - Yokohama

We took a walk in China town in Yokohama.  I've been living in the region of Chinese culture for many years so it's not a very rare site but China town in Yokohama has its own culture.  It's good to find Chinese cooking ingredients.  

「横浜・中華街」中華街を散歩してお昼は台湾食堂へ。台湾人がやってる店で、ビーフンがとても美味しかった。デパートにはない中華食材が揃う食品店もいくつかあったので、色々買ってきた。

My parents wanted to visit Yokohama this time on our trip so we took Keihin Tohoku line from Shinagawa.  We took a walk around the shops in Motomachi.

I don't have many feelings about Yokohama but it seemed like more to my father.  He told me that Yokohama was a very sophisticated town with the latest foreign culture when he was young.  He remembers that Motomachi had great bakeries and people were all going Yokohama to get good bread and western imports.

「元町・横浜」両親の意向で久しぶりに横浜へ行った。元町の商店街とフランス山を回った。父が東京にいた時代の横浜は洗練されて、海外文化の最先端にある上品な街であったらしい。私には若干バブルの残像のような感じもするが、よい店が色々あって面白かった。
