This is the flower arrangement I learned this month, the theme of "Japanese New Year". The bottom is made by the bamboo and the oasis is covered by mosses. I created the line with small sakura branches and filled the space with red to yellow color gradations of flowers. I like the impression of this arrangement very much. It's Japanese, but not exactly at traditional style. By using warm color red and yellow, it also brings the atmosphere of Hong Kong.
Japanese celebrate New Year on normal calendar of January 1st. However most of Asia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and other asian countries celebrate on lunar calendar in February. I believe this is the effect of "Meiji Restoration" in 1868. New Year celebration is the biggest holiday in Japan and resembles Christmas of western culture.
