Kumamoto Castel now

The main castle of Kumamoto castle is now under construction.  It seemed like they took out all the roof tiles and stones fortress.  The main castle is not the original castle to begin with because it's a recreation in 1960. Yet the original construction of "Uto Yagura" survived.

「熊本城の現在」天守閣の再建工事に入った様で、ほとんど取り壊された状態になっていた。熊本城の天守閣は、西南戦争で陥落した城を６０年代にコンクリートで再建したものだ。今回の地震で瓦の多くが落ちてしまっていた。外見では建物は大丈夫そうだったが、ほぼ全面に改築している様だ。天守閣の再建は２０１９年には終わるそうだ。

修理を重ねながらも１６００年代に築城された原型を留めている「宇土櫓」は大丈夫そうに見えるが、瓦や石垣の修理は必要だろう。熊本城全体の復興には２０年と６００億円の資金が必要だとされている。
