This is a great winter Japanese dish; long hour cooked Daikon radish in dashi soup. Radish is a winter vegetable in Japan. They became very juicy and sweet in the winter, however, this winter is a different story.
It's been too cold and all the winter vegetables are not good. Radish is small and dry and Chinese cabbage is dry and very expensive as well.
「大根の煮物・村田吉弘」私が冬大根でよく作る料理。しかし今年は大根や白菜が酷い。冬が寒すぎるのか、例年の様なパンパンに張った甘い大根がなく、細身で乾燥していて高い。白菜も変にスカスカだ。甘くてジューシーな大根で作りたい。
