Yunohira in February

We have on Onsen ryokan that we go often in Yunohira Ohita.  Location is close to Kurokawa Onsen of Kumamoto side and Yufuin but this place is reasonable for local visitor.  The reason we go back this place is their dishes.  The dishes are not gorgeous or luxurious but rather simple and delicious.

The day we visited there was raining in the beginning then turned to snow the next day.  Mountains in Ohita Kuju side are much higher so some places were covered with snow.

「湯平温泉」熊本周辺には沢山の温泉があるが、何度もリピートしているのがこの湯平温泉。場所は熊本の黒川温泉と大分の湯布院の中間地点くらいにある。有名所と違い、地味で古いがしっぽりとした感じが落ち着く。

とにかくお食事がとても美味しい。豪勢で典型的な旅館料理な感じはなく、季節を取り入れた自然な手料理というところがいい。この旅館の料理長さんがとてもセンスのよい方なのだと思う。いつ行っても違う料理が出て来て嬉しい。毎日料理を作っている主婦には至福の休息。ただ今年の３月から料理長が代わられるということで、今後が少し心配。

大分県に位置する久住連山は山が高く、トンネルを抜けると雪が降っていた。
