La Balette

We have come to this restaurant for years more than ten years and this time they told my parents-in-law that the chef had changed.  I suspected they had become the trendy ones, but it had and worse...

It was a great experience but it was too much.  Too much 

 the countryside of South of France I don't need to have Yuzu-flavored dessert !!  Yet overall everything was cooked to precision and prepared well.

「ラ・バレット」コリオーを訪れる故はこのレストランを予約しているからであって、夫と知り合ってから何度も訪れている。以前のシェフが結構好きだったのだが今回は新しいシェフに変わってさらに予約が難しくなったそうだ。

今回は驚くほど斬新なスタイルになっていた。田舎の客はついていけないほど料理の説明が長い。私でも途中で寝そうだった。料理も斬新すぎて言葉がお年寄りには付いてけない。エキスとかスモークとかエキュメとか。極め付けは日本人でも驚きの小さい料理！はっきり言って何を食べたか分からなかった。。

オニオングラタンスープを分解したような料理は美味しかった。魚料理は白身の魚に茄子の酢漬けみたいなものが乗っていて料理が台無しに。しかも鰹節ものっていた！！私と好みが合わな料理だった。デザートに「ゆず風味」というものが出でくるのも日本人としては残念。何のために地球を半周して南仏までたどり着いたのか！

美味しいのだけど、イマイチ何を食べたのか分からない。エンタメとしてのレストランという今のトレンドも分かる。しかしもう少し落ち着いて普通の料理を楽しみたいという気がする後味の残るレストランだった。

Collioure

 

We were very lucky to go to Collioure on the day it was very sunny.  I love this little village by the Mediterrane sea.  The sea was so blue.  Unfortunately, we didn't have time to walk to the tour but it was covered with reconstruction.

「コリオー」地中海が見える大好きな所。いつも行くレストランがあってそこを予約してくれていた。フランスに到着してから毎日が晴れという訳ではなかったので、その日は快晴でとてもラッキーだった。晴れた日の地中海は本当に美しい。

海岸に立っている塔は工事中で幕がかかっていた。この日はあまり時間がなかったので海辺まで散歩出来ずに残念。

Walk near by the river

 

All we did during his time was taking walk around.  I love this location where people can sit on the rocks to relax.

「近くの川」ここはキャンプができる近くの川。椅子を持ってきてリラックスしている人などがいる。水も綺麗。散歩をしたり岩で休んだりしていた。

Blanquet lunch

Blanquet de veau is one of the dishes we love from my mother-in-law.  She looked it so well we all loved it.  I missed having good homey french food.

「ブランケット」ブランケットドゥヴォーはフランスの家庭料理の定番。子牛の煮込み。義母が作っていてくれて久しぶりに頂いた。とても美味しかった。意外とさっぱりとしていて、レモンが入ったソースがとても合う。

Flowers of the garden

Even though my mother-in-law says that the flowers are finished by now, they were still amazingly beautiful. 

「庭の花」もう花の季節は終わりだと言っていたがとても綺麗だった。南仏は乾燥しているので夏は水まきが大変だ。

Vendanges

 

When I arrived in mid-September was right in the middle of the harvest of wine in this region. I saw many harvesting trucks going on the road.

「ぶどうの収穫」９月の半ばはぶどうの収穫の真っ最中だった。散歩しながら見るぶどう畑は３／２は収穫済みだった。収穫している方に伺うと３週間くらいの間に全て終わらせるそうだ。葡萄畑は何ヘクタールもある広い土地だからかなりの作業だ。

Jougla - St. Chinian

 

Right after I arrived in St. Chinian, my father-in-law was about to go to buy wine to the winery nearby so I joined.  I knew he likes the wine from this winery but I went to the place for the first time.

「ジュグラ」家に着いた途端に義父が近所のワイナリーにワインを買いに出かけると言うのでついて行った。ここのワインが好きなのは知っていたが初めて倉に行ってみた。小さなところだがワインは美味しい。ご婦人がサンシニアンワインの特徴などを説明して下さり、テイステイングも色々して楽しかった。家のすぐ近くにこんな所があるとは！

The house

I haven't seen my parents-in-law for three years due to covid. Though this year was very special because of my father's 90th birthday.  I was so glad to see him well.  Everyone was doing well and the house was beautiful as always.

「南仏の家」今年は義父のお誕生日のお祝いに渡仏することができてよかった。みんな思ったより元気で嬉しい。それぞれ年はとっているのだけど、皆健康で、家も綺麗に手入れされているし相変わらず沢山のチーズやワインを用意してくれていて感激だ。

旅行記お待たせしました！写真は沢山撮ったのに、コンピューターのアプリの調子が悪くて苦戦しています。これから時系列で徐々に投稿していきます。
