This is called; Tatsuta Age in Japanese cooking, chicken or fish marinated in sake and soya sauce then coated with potato starch and deep fried in oil.
This fish is called "Golden pomfret" in local term. I believe this is farm grown and it has a slight smell. I usually marinate this fish with lots of minced garlic and ginger.
「マルコバンの竜田揚げ」この魚は身は揚げ物に向いている。養殖なので安価な魚だが、少し独特な匂いがあるのでニンニクと生姜をたっぷりとすりおろして醤油と酒に漬ける。
