I didn't take photos every day when I walk by my work but many days in July were not very sunny.

「７月の天気」７月は変な天気が多かった。どんよりしていたり空気が澄んでいなかったりした。７月は忙しい中でショッキングな出来事があってこれまでに無い辛い月だった。

We went to our favourite Japanese restaurant for my mother's birthday.  It's been a long time since I went there for the last time but I've realized that this is a fantastic place that I have to come here more often.  The dinner was amazing.

「ふきや」母の誕生日に大好きなふきやへ。久しぶりに伺ったが素晴らしかった。日本料理に勤めるようになって作り方や料理の構成をよく観察して食べるようになった。ここは季節感と食材の鮮度がとてもよくて美味しかった。魚中心で全体的に軽やかで全部食べても全く胃もたれしない。最後がもずく入りの麦がゆだったのも好みだった。素晴らしい。

とてもおすすめだが、ご主人がお一人で料理されているので、お酒を頂かないと料理が出るのが遅く感じると思う。お酒が好きな方にはかなりおすすめ。

Rice filed in July in Kikuchi

 

We had weeks of cloudy days in July.  Fortunately, it was not too hot yet but just a bad sky for many days.  I spend my day off going to Onsen in Kikuchi.  Kikuchi is a town famous for it's quality of water and they have great rice fileds.

「菊池の田んぼ」７月は何日も天気が悪い日が続いていた。暑くはないが毎日曇り。気分転換に菊池のコッコファームの温泉へ。この頃田んぼが綺麗だった。

Ayu; Locally farmed river fish is one of the delicacies in Kumamoto in the early summer.  I love them grilled or soya sauced cooked.  I was going to have them more in later in the month but I missed them.

「鮎焼き」７月は鮎。養殖だがとても美味しい。早速第一弾で塩焼き会をした。私は鮎が大好きなので、その後も稚魚などを山椒煮にしようと思っていたが、今年は忙しかったか故か出会わずに終わってしまった。山椒を用意していたのに！亀萬の夏純米が割とサラリとしていて良し。

Beautiful Evening in July

 

It was a day which was dry and hot in early July.  The weather in Kumamoto varies very much from day to day.  We have humid days but it can be dry and hot like this day.

「７月の美しい夕方」この日はとてもドライで暑い日だった。空気が澄んでいたので良い写真が撮れた。７月の熊本の天気は不思議だった。割と乾燥している日もあるし、蒸し暑い日もあった。天気が悪い日も多かった。

There are great delicacies in our region.  They taste especially good in the beginning of the summer.

「夏の特産品」夏の生り物は出始めが美味しい。特にスイカやメロンは６月が美味しいとされている。トマトも最高！

Solo lunch on day off

 

I love going out alone on my day off.  My favourite two shops for lunch are Sasebo burger and Maison Kyser. I love those two shops besides the quality of the food with good coffee and they have big windows.

「お気に入りランチ所」休みの日は一人でランチするのが楽しみだ。お気に入りは並木坂の佐世保バーガーとサクラマチのメゾンカイザー。両方美味しいパンと美味しいコーヒーの店で窓が大きい。窓際の席でゆっくり出来るのがいい。

メゾンカイザーの店作りはさっぱりしているが、熊本の店は清潔で結構居心地がいい。バゲットサンドもおすすめ。その後本屋に寄って十分に時間を過ごすのが至福の時間。

Top Gun Maverick

 

It was good as it gets.  I saw it twice!

「トップガン・マーヴェリック」噂通り良かった！１回普通の映画館で、２回目サクラマチのXシアターで観た。トムクルーズのための映画である事は間違いないが、全体的な世界観が好き。ストーリーの軽さと全てのシーンの美しさで、作り上げられたフィクションの素晴らしさが映画っていいな！と思わせてくれる。

トムクルーズの年のとり方がカッコ良すぎて尊敬するし、登場人物も皆美しい。戦闘機のエンジンの爆音も映画館でしか体験できないエンターテイメントで久しぶりに映画を楽しんだ。おすすめ！！

Charcuterie Charmant

 

This small restaurant is our current favourite in our town.  Their homemade charcuterie; pork products are excellent.  They are less fatty and less salty and I love them.  All the other french speciality is great too.

「シャキュトリー・シャーマン」上通りの大宝堂の裏にある小さなフランス料理のお店。最近のお気に入りだ。シャキュトリーとは豚製品の専門店。若い方がされているがフランスで修行されたのだと思う。料理が本格的だ。手作りのハムやパテ類は脂身や塩分が少なめで日本人向けでとても美味しい。ワインもお手頃価格を揃えてある。おすすめ！！

日本では素敵で小綺麗で美味しいお店でもお手軽価格でゆっくり静かに食事ができる。本当に素晴らしい。

Flowers in July

We don't have many flowers in the summer but I've found that these are wonderful even in the hot season.

「７月の花」大きな百合はお庭で育てられた方に頂いたもの。ものすごい大きさだ。トルコ桔梗の白は涼しげな印象。
