Chateau de Quéribus

We went to visit a chateau de Queribus in Corbières where is 1hr 30min from our home.  The chateau is considered as one of the Cathar castles.  According to the information, the chateau is first mentioned in history in 1020 founded by the Count of Besalu who became King of Argon later.

It considered as Cathares castles and it was the last Cathar bastion until it fell into the hands of northern French Crusaders in 1255.  Later the castle became a fortress against Spain along with other castles in the region; cinq fils de Carcasonne.  The hight of the castle is 728 meter, Castle overlooks the hills of Corbieres very well.

We walk up the stairs of the castle but the experience was very thrilling because of the extremely strong wind.  The wall of the castle is not very high so it was very scary to see view beneath.  The castle is well reconstructed to visit each room inside. Overall the site was absolutely stunning all the way.

「キュリブス城」家から１時間半くらいの所にある、コルビエ地方の古城へ行った。元々は北スペイン地方アルゴの公爵が１０２０年頃に建てたもので、後にカタリ派の要塞になり、１２５５年に「アルビジョア十字軍」によって陥落したそうだ。後にスペインの侵略を防ぐ要所となる５つの城「カルカソンヌの５息子」の一つとなる。標高７２８メートルにあり、周りの景色が一望できる丘の天辺にある。

忘れなれない素晴らしい経験ができた。外観からはあまりわからないが、とても恐ろしいのだ。ものすごい強風が吹いているので、しがみつきながら登らないといけない。風が強すぎて吹き飛ばされそうだった。石垣の階段の淵には壁があるが、低いので下の景色をみるのが結構怖かった。

城は良く復元されていて、いくつもの部屋があった。要塞として建てられているので、周りの景色が一望できる絶景が素晴らしかった。まさに指輪物語のような世界が見えた。南仏の歴史の中で、カタリ派（Catharisme）の歴史はとても重要でもう少し勉強しないといけないと思った。
