La Couvertoirade

La couvertoirade is fortified middle age village in Aveyron; which is 1h;15 mins from our home.  It's built around 11th century, later owned by the Templars.  It's known as one of the Templars villages.  I thought that the village was preserved very well and it was very pretty.

I know only the outline of the history of Templars though, for many French people, it's a very popular part of history.  Boys really like the stories of the Knights of Templars.  This visit made me think of studying it in deeper.

「ラ・クヴァートゥアラド」家から１時間１５分ほどの過疎地にある中世の村に行ってきた。１１世紀ごろに建てられ、その後「テンプル騎士団」の所有となった城壁に囲まれた村。かなり田舎にあるが、よく整備されていてとても可愛らしい村だった。

テンプル騎士団の古城は南仏に数多くあり、聖地巡礼をする人が多い。テンプラーと十字軍遠征の話はフランスの歴史の中でとても人気がある。特に騎士団の話は男の子に人気で、グッズなども沢山お土産屋にあった。日本のゲーム；ファイナルファンタジーやドラゴンクエストの概念もテンプル騎士団がモデルだ。

十字軍の歴史は概要程度にしか勉強していないので、もっと深く知りたいと思う。南仏の歴史はキリスト教の歴史そのものだと思った。ちなみにラングドックを含む、西南部のフランスの地方をオクシタニーと言うが、地域の旗は十字軍のクロスだと気がついた。
