More flowers in the town in April

There were so many flowers in April in Kumamoto.  April is the month of bloom so I was very busy taking a walk every day.  Each day, I found something new.

「４月の花」４月は街中がお花で溢れていた。どこを散歩してもお花だらけ。毎日何か新しい発見があって本当に忙しかった。今年は例年より涼しいように思った。４月は良い月だ。

I looked up this bistro in Ebisu that looked nice on google so we went there with my family.  Some dishes were excellent but some were not, unfortunately.

「アベス」恵比寿にあるのだが、ビストロを探していてここは良さそうかな？と思って予約して行ってみた。料理は丁寧で美味しいのだが、スープやグラタンが塩辛すぎて参った。お肉はとても美味しかった。サービスが遅くて時間がかかり過ぎたので、あまりおススメ出来ない。

「伊勢廣の焼き鳥」

We love eating at the home of my sister.  It's always great to eat at home.  This time we brought the famous Yakitori from "Isehiro" from Takashimaya.

「おうちご飯」妹家族と一緒に家でゆっくりご飯を頂いた。一日出かけていたので、お刺身やお寿司を買ってきた。妹は有名な「伊勢広」の焼き鳥を買ってきてくれた。炭火の香りが香ばしくて肉肉しい焼き鳥でとても美味しかった。自分用忘備録。

I took my nephew to Jimbosho on Saturday because we both love books.  Before going to the bookstore, we had lunch at Hambagu restaurant.  I didn't know about this place but the hambagu was excellent.  Then we spend time in Sanseido; the famous bookstore that was planned to close at the end of that week for the reconstruction of their building.

「神保町」私の大好きな町に、本好きの甥っ子を連れて神保町へ。まずは腹ごしらえから。甥が選んだハンバーグの店に入ったがとても美味しかった。ハンバーグにサラダと生ジュース、ご飯とお味噌汁がついて１２００円だったと思う。サービスも良かった。生卵も付いてきてご飯のお代わり自由。神保町の良いところはランチ出来る所が沢山あるし、何処もお値段もお手軽なのだ。

その後はゴールデンウィーク後に閉店が決まっていた「三省堂」へ。１時間後にレジで会おうと言う約束を延長したり、後にお茶をして「東京堂」へ。もっと色々行きたかったが、本屋は意外と疲れる。結局３時間くらいずっと本を読んでいた。

神保町は遠い訳ではないのだが、私達の所からアクセスが悪いので幾つか乗り換えを要する。甥と小旅行した気分だ。私にとって色んな意味で至福の経験だった。

Sense - Mandarin Oriental

Dim Sum at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel was the best Dim Sum I've ever had in Tokyo.  Since we're restricted to travel to Hong Kong yet, this is the only solution.  I've found the taste of their dishes was absolutely amazing.

「センス・マンダリンオリエンタル」日本で一番美味しい飲茶だと思う。素晴らしいお料理だった。マンダリンの飲茶は香港でも大好きだが香港と変わらない美味しさだった。一つ一つがとても丁寧で、美味しい。そして、全部私が好きなお料理ばかりだった。お茶もとても美味しかったし、サービスも満点。

眺めも素晴らしくて最高のロケーション。未だ香港に気軽にいける状態ではない今はここが私の香港だ。これからここは外せないランチになりそうだ。これは平日の飲茶メニューで、週末は違うそうだ。だけどこのコースがオススメ。

Nodaiwa - Sukiyabashi

Our Tokyo trip started at the famous eel grill "Nodaiwa".  I absolutely love this place because of the eel and the taste.  It was all good as always.

「野田岩・数寄屋橋」銀座で鰻と言ったら以前は竹葉亭ばかり行っていたが、ある時に友人の勧めでここで一緒にランチして以来、私の上京メニューの定番になった。揺るぎない美味さで、ゆっくり出来て場所もいい。野田岩の鰻はふっくらしているが脂っこくなく、タレの甘辛さも上品で絶妙だ。

Vacant floors

 

I've found so many vacant floors in a big shopping complex in Ginza. This one is Tokyu Plaza though it was the same thing at Nihonbashi.  I used to like shops that sell special things at these complexes but all those shops were gone.

「閉店ばかり」以前の東京は東京でしか買えない「イケてる店」がいくつかあったがそんな店は全部閉店していた。和風のインテリアや雑貨のショップやスニーカーの店など。東急プラザの中層階は店舗にシャッターが降りていたのには驚いた。日本橋高島屋の新館の店もおしゃれな店は撤退し、保険の相談窓口などが入っていた。プランタンの後のビルはユニクロとダイソーが入っていて、ここはとても混雑していた。

今の中国の状況では今年も観光客は戻らないだろう。今までもそれほどショッピングをする事はあまり好きな方ではなかったのだが、もう東京はその街ではないかもしれない。欲しいものはネットで買えるし。ただ、その他の事は相変わらず楽しかった。美味しいものも健在。

Tokyo Trip 2022

 

For the first time in two years, I visited Tokyo to see my family.  I wondered how it was changed due to covid.  Some things were the same but I've realized there were many changes.  Unfortunately, to the not a good direction.  Though personally I fully enjoyed the city.

「２年ぶりの東京」４月、コロナを経て初めて東京へ行ってきた。何か変わったかな？と思いながら探索したが、思った以上に変わっていた。残念ながら良くない方向に。気に入っていたお店が多く閉店していた。
