Engraving Studio

 

My husband and I visited an engraving artist's studio whom which my husband has been ordering art products from.  He is one of the artists who engrave pictures for the French post office.  I was very impressed with his work and was lucky to hear his explanations of this work.

「エングレービング」夫がオーダーしていた作品を取りに芸術家のアトリエに行ってみた。田舎の村にあるのだが、とても良いアトリエだった。親切に色々と説明してもらった。エングレービングの事もあまり知らなかったのでとても興味深い。

エングレービングとは銅板や金属を彫る技術で特にフランスやドイツの芸術だと思う。この方はフランスの郵便切手を彫るアーティストの一人だそうだ。面白い体験だった。
