Yamanaka - Hakata

I visited sushi at Yamanaka in Yakuin Hakata for dinner.  Yamanaka is probably the most famous sushi shop in Hakata with few branches.  I've been to one of the branches for lunch many times but for the first time, I tried the main shop in Yakuin.

My impression of sushi in Hakata is something completely different from the style of Tokyo but this is something of their own.  Hakata has a great variety of fishes because of the Genkainada sea.  The sushi has less vinegar than Tokyo and the dinner came with a lot of dishes.  To be honest it was too much.  Though the tastes were good it lacks a bit of speciality.

「やま中・薬院」いつもセントラーザでランチを頂くが、今回は本店に行ってみた。あらためて、博多の寿司とは江戸前は全く異なる別の食べ物だという感想。特徴が全く違うのだ。夜は寿司割烹になるそうで、オススメの12000円を頂いた。

お刺身は鯛とマグロは良かったが、締め鯖はそこそこ。フグは水っぽく旨みがないが、ポン酢がとても美味しかった。お料理は丁寧で美味しいのだが、量が多過い。また、典型的な料理で面白身がない。

寿司は「ふんわり系」で優しい味だ。イカやウニ、漬物巻きが美味しかったが、その他は食材の良さを活かしきれていない感じが否めなく、東京の寿司に劣る印象だ。お酒のチョイスはよく、嬉野の酒が料理によく合っていて美味しかった。店構えなども含めて、全体的に田舎っぽい印象を受けた。美味しいが、量が多い。
