Quest of Chicken Rice - Boon Tong Kee

This is very popular casual restaurant, known for it's chicken rice and other local Chinese dishes.  There are few outlets in Singapore and I tried the one in East Coast road.  I took Chicken rice and fired prawn rolls.

My first impression was the sauce is too sweet for me.  Chicken is tender but the rice was bit dry.  Fried dish was very good.  Some famous blogger rates high for the chicken rice but it just wasn't my taste..

「文東記」地元民に人気のある中華料理。いくつか支店があるがイーストコーストの店に行ってみた。チキンライスや蒸し鶏が有名な店で、いつも結構にぎわっている印象だ。

チキンは柔らかくて美味しいが、タレが私には甘すぎた。ライスも他の店より劣る。揚げ物は美味しかった。ただ、人気なのはこの甘味なのかもしれない。シンガポールやマレー料理は時々私には甘過ぎる料理がある。

ちなみに李錦記の醤油も同じブランドなのに香港とシンガポールでは全然味が違い、シンガポール版は生抽（ライト醤油；日本で言う普通の醤油）でも甘い。
