Horaku manju

Horaku manju is my favourite cake of Kumamoto.  This is something like sweet beans sandwiched in a pancake.  This traditional dessert is everyone's favourite in Kumamoto but not many people know outside of the city because of it only last one day.  You need to eat them immediately or you can heat it up in the microwave at home but it's truly better to eat within one day.

This type of cake exists in many other places in all over Japan but to me, this is so much better than others because of the amount of sweet beans.  It has so much other than any similar cake of other places.  In fact, I was very disappointed when I tried one in Tokyo years ago where people had lined up in a queue but it had half of the beans than this Horaku manju.
