Sakura in Kumamoto Castle

These are the photos of Sakura was a nearly full bloom in Kumamoto Castle on the 23rd of February.  It was a sunny and warm spring day and it was perfect for Hanami.

Thought it was absolutely beautiful I thought the sakura trees in Kumamoto castle were better about ten years ago when they still haven't cut many tree branches.  Sakura trees are very sensitive to cutting branches.  From the cut surface tree become sick but the park keeper has to cut the branches because they grew too big in the end the tree loses its energy.  Sakura tree stands alone in the place they don't need to be trim, it grows much better.

「熊本城の桜」２月２３日の写真。この日はとても天気が良いお花見日和だったので熊本城へ散歩に出かけた。満開の一歩手前だったと思う。とても気持ちよくお花見が出来た。１０年ぶりくらいに熊本城の花を観たが、以前の方が花に勢いがあったように思う。

案内されているシルバー人材の方にお話を聞いたら、桜は大きくなりすぎると街路樹の場合は枝を切らなければいけないので、切ったところから弱っていくそうだ。桜切るバカとは言うが桜は枝を切る事が命取りになるそうで、同時に新しい木を植えていかなければいけないそうだ。

桜の枝はしなやかで、流れるような枝ぶりが美しい。一本で立っている桜は大きく育つ樹があるが街路樹は老木になると花の勢いが劣る。最近は温暖化で桜も弱ってきていると感じなくもない。
