I've found this amazing Chinese book store by chance walking near our hotel in Wan Chai.  I was fascinated with a number of Philosophy books they had in one shop.  It has a small entrance so I didn't know that the basement space is so big.

I don't speak Chinese but I roughly can understand the meaning of content by looking at the title or can understand if I read very slowly because I'm Japanese whom language also use Chinese characters.

I was amazed at the number of books of Eastern studies; Chinese medicine, Buddhism philosophy books they had.  I've never seen this amount of books in this field.  They also had some political books about the Chinese communist party.


「天地圖書」ホテルの近くで見つけた本屋。入口が狭く、地下になっていたので今まで気付かなかった。この本屋の哲学書、仏教書の多さに驚いた。香港には表立った本屋というものがほとんど無いので、香港人はあまり本を読まない人たちだと思っていたのだが、ものすごい世界が広がっていた。

仏教哲学・東洋哲学の本の数は圧巻だ。哲学全般でも神保町の東京堂よりあるのではないかと思う。本屋というより図書館なのだ。東洋哲学というものが、こんなに本がある分野の学問なんだと思い知らされ衝撃を受けた。

東洋医学の本の数も多い。香港の文化に関する本、独立思想の本も数多くあった。思ったより、中国政治の本もあった。ただタイトルからして真面目な印象。

私は中国語が読めるわけではなく、なんとなくしか分からないがそれでも結構楽しい。日本は本屋は多いが、アホみたいな本も多いので、すごい本屋だと思った。
