We had a heavy rainstorm the other day so I picked up our plums the day before the rain. Our Ume tree in the garden is a very old tree which is more than a hundred years old. Unfortunately, it produces not many plums in recent years.
We usually make "Umeshu" which is ume soaked liqueur but this year I marinated it in vinegar. For the rest of it, I cooked with sugar.
「梅仕事」大雨が降ると言うので、その前に庭の梅を採った。木が高いので上の方まで取れなかったが、なんとか大きなボウル一杯。梅酒はあまり飲まないので梅酢と甘露煮にした。両方とも初めて作ってみた。
甘露煮は自分好みのものが出来て大満足。これを応用して肉のソースに利用したりゼリーを作ろうと思う。梅酢は後々楽しみ。
