Yakitori nearby

 

One of the great things about being in Japan is that there are many casual Izakaya nearby.  Even you live in a small city like Kumamoto, there is Izakaya in the neighborhood.  These small places don't necessarily serve the best food but good, cheap, fast, and you can go by walk.

「近所の焼き鳥屋」日本のいいことの一つに近所に歩いて行ける飲み屋があると言うこと。これは街の大きさにもよるとは思うが、日本の割とどんな所にもマンションの１階などにある小さくて安い居酒屋、焼き鳥屋、飲み屋などが入っていて近所の常連客で回っている店があると思う。

こんな些細なことだが、こレは海外にはあまり無い。パブやカフェは飲めても料理がダメだし、食事をすると安くもない。うちの近所の焼き鳥は安くて結構美味しい。味付けを薄味でお願いするとどれだけでも食べてしまう。焼き鳥にはハイボールが合う。
